The origins of Bar Room Blues were at an open mic night in Mundesley. Chris Myatt-Jones took to the stage and announced, "I'm a blues man really, but here's some other songs"! As soon as he was off stage Greg Chapman approached Chris and said "How about forming a duo and playing Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry material"?
It didn't quite turn out that way. For a while the pair were joined by bassist Gerry Morris and the repertoire expanded a little. Continuing as a duo, they played a laid back, almost acoustic, set of numbers that will be remembered by fans of the British blues boom of the 1960s. Steve Smith, another bass player, then joined the band playing his first gig as part of Bar Room Blues in September 2023.
